Greetings, dear English teachers and learners!

In this new post I would like to show you my new approach to practising Past Simple and Present Perfect. You can either do this activity twice (using each tense separately) or once (using any mentioned tense your prefer more).

LEVEL: Pre-Intermediate and above

Task. Make certain or uncertain statements about the people below. These statements should be about the spheres in brackets.

Example:

Harry is tired. (sport)

Statement 1: Most likely, he went jogging.

or

Statement 2: Most likely, he's worked out in the gym.

LET'S START!

Most likely/Looks like/Definitely

- Jason is on cloud nine. (relations)

- Adam is so glad. (business)

- Barbara is dead tired. (travelling)

- Sam is downhearted. (business)

- Linda is heartbroken. (relationship)

- David is over the moon. (property)

- Polly is exhausted. (education)

- Mike is cheerful. (leisure and entertainment)

- Alice is jumping for joy. (career)

- Sam is beyond happy. (health)

- Laura is disappointed. (business)

Each statement can be followed by extra questions from real life. For example, "When did you work out last time?" or "How do you feel about jogging bright and early?"...

Have fun, everybody!

Yours,

YK xo
