Hi everyone!

There are so many great ways to introduce new and interesting vocabulary. But what about ways to practise it as much as possible? Being a non-native English educator I find it necessary to let my students use Target Language in all the possible speaking situations. Not just in one or two. But in 30-50... or more. As long as I see these ways I don't think they should be avoided.

In this blog I continue my Business English series.

Here is a new way to practise job related activities.

Level: Pre-Intermediate and above

Target Language 1: Job related activities

Target Language 2: Past Simple

Task. Make up mini-dialogues using the example. Give all the possible job related activities. Start each conversation with "yesterday was a nerve-wracking day for..."

Example:

Jane (teacher)

CONVERSATION:

Speaker A: Yesterday was a nerve-wracking day for Jane. She had to (e.g. give 8 lessons, deal with violent students, ...)

Speaker B: Extra question to the situation (e.g. What lessons did she give?)

LET'S START

Samantha (a surgeon)

James (an actor)

Chris (a waiter)

Peter (a glossy magazine editor)

Alice ( a lawyer)

Ben ( a computer programmer)

Steve ( a photographer)

Grace ( an event maker)

Hope you and your students enjoy this speaking activity!

Yours,

YK xo
