Dear readers,
I am so delighted to resume my teaching blog again when I have plenty of new ideas for the English classroom.
This time I would like to introduce you to a new dialogue excercise which enables you to practise: 1) university subjects; 2) professional fields; 3) names of professions; 4) Present and Past Simple.
Level: Intermediate and above
Task. All the people below became high-flyers. For this activity you need to think of a very high career step that they got to. Make up-mini-dialogues using the example.
Example:
Teacher: What was Mike's major at the university?
Student: If my memory doesn't fail me/If I'm not mistaken, he studied journalism.
Teacher: What area of journalism did he enjoy studying the most?
Student: He enjoyed studying ... (e.g. news journalism)
Teacher: What does he do for a living?
Student: (e.g.) He is the head of a huge broadcasting corporation.
LET'S START!
Alice (foreign languages)
David (law)
Patrick (medicine)
Kelly (architecture)
Simon (art)
Joseph (history)
Adam (politics)
Patricia (economics)
Phil (IT)
Have a wonderful time doing this activity! As usual, I will be more than happy to get your feedback.
Yours,
YK xo
