Dear readers and followers,
I have previously posted two Speaking activities related to the topic "Interests. Hobbies. Inclinations" where I have focused on 1) expressions (to be into, to be keen on, to be nuts about, to be mad about, to dwell on something, ...); 2) names of activities for leisure and pastime.
Once we study some Target Language, we often ask ourselves: What's next? How can I practise this Target Language again? What are other ways to use this Target Language in order to enable me and my students to have more interesting conversations so that we don't get bored?
There are plenty of ways! Hope you enjoy the brand new one from me today!
Level: Intermediate / Upper-Intermediate
Target Language 1: to be into, to be keen on, to be nuts about, to be mad about, to dwell on something, to be passionate about, to fancy, can't do without
Target Language 2: names of activities for leisure and pastime
Task.
Read a sentence which describes a person's interest/hobby/inclination.
Answer two questions: 1) What does this person do to keep up this interest/hobby? 2) What has this person achieved so far?
Example:
Patrick is keen on photography.
Answer 1: He takes photos of nature to keep up this interest.
Answer 2: He has organised 3 photo exhibitions and sold 50 photos.
LET'S START!
1. John is mad about extreme sports.
2. Belinda is keen on the Eastern cultures.
3. Josh is into foreign languages.
4. David can't do without his grand piano.
5. Leo is passionate about performing on stage.
6. Carl dwells on self-education.
7. Adam can't do without dog breeding.
8. Tim fancies computer programming and web design.
Let me know how it goes!
Yours,
YK xo
