Dear readers, English teachers and learners,

The festive season has started and none of us can do without SHOPPING!

I would like to show you my recent activity related to SHOPPING which can be done in Pre-Intermediate - Upper-Intermediate groups.

Target Language 1: Idiom "To buy something for a song"

Target Language 2: Idiom "To pay through the nose".

Target language 3: Expression "To buy something at a reasonable price

Target Language 4: Numbers

Target Language 5: Past Simple

Task. Imagine that you and your family went on a two-week holiday abroad. You did shopping every day. So you simply hit the shops! Below is the list of things which you bought /purchased during your stay. Say for how much you bought each item and what you think: 1) did you buy it for a song? or 2) did you pay through the nose for it? or 3) did you buy it at a reasonable price?

Example:

Umbrella - 3 euros

Teacher: What did you buy first? Do you think it was expensive?

Student: I bought an umbrella for three euros. I think I bought it for a song.

LET'S START!

LIST OF PURCHASED ITEMS:
