A warm hello again, everybody! Today I am so eager to show you one "newly-baked" Speaking task of mine which your Elementary and Intermediate Students might also like.

Target Language 1: Idiom "This made my day".

Target Language 2: Names of places + prepositions of place

Target Language 3: Everyday life activities

Target Language 4: Past Sipmple Tense

"SO, WHAT MADE YOUR DAY AT THESE PLACES?"

* This task enables students to associate certain places with certain positive actions and situations thus they start recalling the appropriate vocabulary and using it in speech.

Task. Make-up mini dialogues as in the example below.

Example:

Teacher: Where were you yesterday?

Student: Yesterday I was in a bank. I finally opened a new account. This made my day.

Teacher: Extra question in Past Simple (e.g. How long did it take you to fill in applications?)

LET'S START!

¤ Last Monday – theatre ¤ Two days ago – city centre

¤ Last Tuesday – excursion ¤ Last Sunday – shopping mall

¤ The day before yesterday – another city ¤ This morning – gym

¤ Last Wednesday – café ¤ On Sunday – conference

¤ Last Friday – competitions ¤ Yesterday evening – friend’s place

¤Last Saturday – closed party ¤ Sunday afternoon – meeting

Possible answer about Last Monday

Teacher: Where were you last Monday?

Student: I was in the theatre. I saw an amazing French comedy. This made my day!

Teacher: How long was the performance?

Student: It was about 3 hours.

Yours,

YK xo
